Title: Mechanic

Job Summary

Repair and maintain equipment in the Packaging Department. Ensure that all department equipment functions properly to meet production requirements. Maintain equipment to meet SOP and cGMP specifications. Troubleshoot and diagnose equipment failure, ability to identify problem and repair equipment. Proficient in dismantling and reassembling equipment and using appropriate tools to perform repairs. Generate purchase orders for replacement parts, maintains spare part inventory. Must be able to read electrical schematics. Interact with outside vendors, may be asked to participate in factory acceptance tests.  Interface with the Engineering Department.  Work with outside machine shop to help design and fabricate solutions to department issues.


  • Work in a team environment with management to ensure departmental goals are prioritized and met
  • Perform set-ups and changeovers of all machines in accordance with schedule demands
  • Ensure that machines are properly maintained and PM’s are performed and documented monthly
  • Perform required analysis and troubleshoots all electrical, electronic and mechanical components in the event of equipment failure
  • Establish and perform preventive maintenance on all equipment to ensure proper operation and minimal downtime
  • Inform lead mechanic and department management of equipment performance, problems and status
  • Participate in the installation and debugging of new or modified equipment
  • Follow department SOP’s, cGMP and safety practices
  • Maintain proper documentation in accordance with SOP’s
  • Must perform and successfully complete all trainings in Master Control
  • Perform other duties as assigned


Education, Skills, and/or Experience

  • High School Diploma, Technical School Certificate plus 5 years’ related mechanic experience or equivalent combination of education, training and experience
  • Pharmaceutical manufacturing experience preferred

  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimal
